Herbal Elder

An "HERbal Elder" is created from a lifetime of practical experience with no diploma on the wall because our education never ends.  My HERbal journey began 40 years ago in Boulder, Colorado, the Mecca of natural nutrition and birthplace of Celestial Seasonings.

Each of my Infusion blends has a focus.  A "tutorial" goes with each purchase explaining Herbs used, the traditional reason they were chosen and preparation instructions. Bulk refills are available and mail orders are welcome.  I will do custom blending for you.

I have special green tea blends and Rooibos and Honeybush from South Africa.

Simple herbs are also available for your projects (five dozen are on hand with me at every Market).  If I do not carry it, I will search for the herb you need and special order it for you.

Stop by my booth for your "Tonic Taster" of the day. Mail orders are always accepted...call me or come by my booth to get a list of blends.

My selection of Culinary blends:
Salt-free Herb Seasoning (use it on popcorn, eggs, hamburgers and Mac'n'Cheese, etc.),
Mexi-sugar (for anything hot and buttered)...
these join Grandmother's Kitchen Baking Spice and the Aztec Cocoa...and I have included recipes.

Where are you on your HERbal Elder Journey?

You are unique. Each HERrbal Elder is unique . . .

There is no diploma or certificate because learning keeps going on all your life. There are many gifts for those called to herbs such as growing, wild-crafting, drying, and blending (culinary or medicinal). You can have the gift of creating oils, ointments, salves, or perfumes. Many an herb died in vain until I accepted the facts that my gifts were mostly in blending and teaching.

Learn about each herb that chooses to gain your attention. What does the root, leaf, seed, bark, or flowers provide? How and when do you gather and process each one? What does it look like every season of the year? Which parts are safe to use? Why is your neighbor killing them with Roundup? All these things you are learning one herb at a time. Since you do not earn a certificate or diploma on this journey, you can say "I don't know . . . let's look it up."

When you are "wild-crafting" please remember that when you approach a patch of plants, the first one that catches your eye can be the "Mother Plant." If you feel welcomed, please gather no more than 10% of what you find. If it is only one plant be sure you do not cost it its life or the means for it to reproduce itself. Every plant has its own timeframe for reproduction. Some can be within a season but others may take years with many delicate steps along the way. Many plants today are threatened with extinction. When and where you can, cultivate your own patch and leave the wild ones in peace.

Each lesson will come when you are ready to receive it (sometimes before you realize you are ready for it). Your knowledge will grow with every answer you find for someone else. All along this journey share what you learn with others. Your family of friends will be blessed with gifts you have made for them using herbs. Their gifts can include special meals, herb/flower wreaths, body care products, flower waters, and infusion blends to lift soul and spirit . . . The gardens you create from only patio pots to however many acres of land you occupy will also bear testament to your Herbal Elder journey.

Always remember the word "herbal" means Her (Lady Mother Earth's) balance. HERbal. She has "companion planted" us on this earth. Everything we need is all around us. All we need is the knowledge how.

Happy journey . . . So please, Subscribe to my email newsletter ALL SIMPLES REVIEW…
